Overview

web2texzip is a Chrome extension that converts webpages and PDF files to LaTeX format. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

Data Collection

web2texzip does NOT collect any data. Specifically:

• No personal information is collected
• No browsing history is recorded
• No webpage content is stored
• No conversion results are transmitted
• No analytics or tracking is performed
• No cookies are set

How It Works

When you click the extension icon:

1. The extension reads the current webpage URL (only when you click the icon)
2. The URL is sent to a local conversion tool running on your computer
3. The conversion happens entirely on your machine using the web2texzip command-line tool
4. The resulting LaTeX files are saved to your Downloads folder
5. No data is sent to external servers at any point

Permissions

The extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

activeTab

Purpose: Allows the extension to read the URL of the current tab when you click the extension icon.

Usage: Only activated when you explicitly click the extension icon. This permission is required to know which webpage to convert.

nativeMessaging

Purpose: Allows communication with the local web2texzip conversion tool installed on your computer.

Usage: Sends the webpage URL to your local conversion tool and receives status messages. All communication stays on your local machine.

notifications

Purpose: Shows you notifications about conversion status (success or errors).

Usage: Displays messages like "Conversion complete!" or "Conversion failed" after processing.

Local Processing Only

All webpage conversion is performed locally on your machine:

• The web2texzip tool runs on your computer (not on a remote server)
• Webpage content is processed by your local installation
• Images and LaTeX files are saved to your local disk
• No internet connection to external services is required for conversion

Third Parties

web2texzip does not:

• Share data with third parties (because no data is collected)
• Use analytics services
• Display advertisements
• Track user behavior
• Integrate with social media platforms

Data Storage

The extension stores:

• No user data in browser storage
• No conversion history
• No preferences or settings

The only files created are the LaTeX output files saved to your Downloads folder, which you have full control over.

Security

Since web2texzip processes everything locally and doesn't transmit data:

• Your webpage content never leaves your computer
• There is no risk of data interception
• Your browsing activity remains private
• No user accounts or authentication required

Children's Privacy

web2texzip does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The extension is safe for use by users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
• Post the new policy at this URL
• Notify users through the Chrome Web Store update notes

Your Rights

Since we don't collect any data, there is:
